Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of AirBed & Breakfast?
To provide a fun and easy way to connect people who have extra space in their place with those seeking an affordable alternative to hotels. Stay with a local to get an insider's perspective and make new friends along the way. Hosts make extra money by posting their pad and guests reap the benefits of staying at home sweet home, even when they're thousands of miles away from their own.
Who uses AirBed & Breakfast?
Anyone who likes to meet new people and is open to new experiences. AB&B is not for everyone. If you're an ice bucket kind of person, you may want to stick with hotels. But give us a try, and you will find out that staying with a local is much more fun than hanging out alone with your ice bucket.
Does it cost anything to sign up?
No, it's free! So sign up today and start choosing your next destination.
Why is it better to use AB&B rather than a hotel?
You instantly meet new people instead of looking like a loner at the hotel bar. You'll probably get full access to a kitchen so you can make ramen with boiling water instead of warm tap water. You just may make a new friend for life. Overall, you'll probably pay less and get more bang for your buck.
Why is it better to use AB&B rather than other local accommodation networks?
When you book a room with AB&B you have a higher level of security when staying with someone. The payment is done online so you don't need to worry about money issues once you arrive. Also, since you're paying the host, he or she will most likely go out of their way to ensure you're having a good time. The level of hospitality increases when there is money involved.
How do I find a room?
In just three clicks! Simply (1) search your city, (2) find a listing, and (3) book your room using your credit card.
Host Questions
How can I host?
If you have extra room in your place, you are 90% there! Why not put it to use and earn some extra money? Start by locating the 'Host' link on the top right navigation.
Do I have to provide breakfast to guests?
No, but leaving a bagel out will probably get you brownie points. And making a mean omelette will probably get you rave reviews.
Do I need a private room or an airbed to host?
Not at all! You can offer whatever sleeping arrangement you want. You could place an airbed in your common space, offer a futon, or even a couch. All you need to do is price accordingly to what you think is fair.
Do I have to host everyone?
No, whom you host is up to you. When a traveler requests to stay with you, you can look at their profile and either accept or decline their request. If you decline, the traveler receives an email simply stating that your place is not available at that time. If you accept, your place is booked!
How long will my room posting stay on the site?
Indefinitely, until you delete it. If you would like to hide your posting, simply turn it off. Your posting will be saved and ready to be turned back on once you're available to host again.
My image will not upload. What do I do?
Resize the image so that it is 250 x 250 pixels square and less than 1mb.
Do I have to enter my Facebook and LinkedIn information?
No, but it gives users a chance to get a better sense of who you are and you can see if you and your potential housemate will be a good fit.
